Policy Code: 1A Bangsa Malaysia

Problem Statement and Current Policy:

“Continuously deteriorating quality of life induced by eroding moral values & practices.” By observing people’s words and actions, there are increasing evidences of destructive/hateful/narcissistic intents. Such behaviours weren’t formed over the short term. Most if not all of them have transcended generations with deep-rooted habits. When the authorities on every level choose to turn the other cheek and let the wrong be, it sends out a powerful message that people can get away with murder, especially when they are powerful. It encourages others to bypass ethical, moral and legal means of living and jump onto the wagon of deceit, apathy, corruption and eventually incompetence. While we as a nation regress, every single country, be they near us or far, are passionately working their way to gain the most favoured nation status in the eyes of the world. Some of these nascent nations, which used to trail us in many ways are now equal or way ahead of us.

Value(s) and Belief:

Education is a key cornerstone of empowering growth and development of the nation. Education should happen in and outside of schools, of which the number 1 core value is Prioritising Nation Above Self. That has to be emphasised until it becomes an automated, unconscious belief and practice by the general public.

Proposal of Solution and Call for Action:

What Malaysia needs the most right now is a nation-unifying leader and a competent government. A leader and government that truly appreciates – not just acknowledges and tolerates – the uniqueness and advantages of multiethnic and multicultural citizens of Malaysia. A leader and government who go beyond self and always decide in the interest of ALL its citizens.A leader and government that empower its citizens to think for themselves so that they have the capability to make informed decisions. Currently, this step is strongly discouraged because they know that the citizens can vote them out in the next general election. This is clearly a misconception because all citizens want to have a government that put the nation’s best interests first and build a sustainable better future for everyone. The call for action is to raise the awareness of importance in Prioritising Malaysia Above Self. Malaysian ought to learn how to ask pertinent questions on a consistent basis to compel politicians and their respective parties to respond through their manifestos with concrete steps. When the Rakyat is educated with relevant knowledge covering as many of the policy areas as possible, they would wake up to the urgency of addressing the most urgent ones.

Additional information:

Educational and awareness campaigns are equally crucial. Malaysians ought to be reminded to always keep their eyes and ears peeled to the practices of politicians. Malaysians ought to be guided or taught how to tell between a desirable MP & Adun from an undesirable one. Malaysians must be aware of the purpose and effects of voting.
