Isu dan Polisi Semasa:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \"Thousands of farmers and small-scale stockbreeders have been cultivating government lands all over Malaysia for farming purposes. Some of them have been developing these lands even before Independence. They are the primary food supplier in the local markets, particularly in Peninsular Malaysia. A significant number of these farmers have made official applications to acquire the land ownership they are working on. Nevertheless, their applications are rarely accepted\/approved. \n\nFor more than 40 years, these farmers have been evicted from the land they\u2019ve been working on based on development projects. In usual circumstances, the small-scale farmers are evicted without alternative lands, forfeiting the chances to continue farming activities. The demolition of farming land will not only affect the livelihood and income of the farmers, but also severely affects the food security of Malaysians. \n\nEvicting the farmers could highly likely impact the economic activities of the rural population as many of the services are related to farming activities. This includes seed vendors, farming tool sellers, vegetable and fruits wholesalers, lorry drivers transporting harvests to the markers, farmworkers and many others. This interlinked employment may likely be destroyed along with the farming activities. Last but not least, places nearby upstream have to face the imminent risk of a frequent and devastating flood when the farming lands are converted or developed to be a housing area. \" \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nilai-nilai & Kepercayaan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Food supply is impossible without the farmers. The land is the soul for farming. Providing land for small-scale farmers is the government\u2019s responsibility. Values and exact land conditions for agriculture must be preserved and maintained. Priorities should be given to farmers and gardeners before the land is transferred to a third party for development purposes. \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n Penyelesaian:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \"1.\tFarming lands catering food supplies must be maintained. Only 10% of the whole land is approximately allocated to plant fruits and vegetables. However, more than 80% of the land size is utilised for palm trees, rubber, and other commodities. \n\n2.\tSuppose a farming land is desperately needed for different purposes. In that case, an appropriate location with exact size of land must be compensated for the small-scale farmers before they are asked to evict them. \n\n3.\tSmall-scale farmers must be given a land lease of 20 years to develop confidence that their investment in land cultivation is not destroyed due to the land appropriation by another party.
