Policy Code: 3c Judiciary Reform
Problem Statement and Current Policy:
Abuse of power, neglect and victimisation by authorities. BPA, EAIC or so called government complaint channels are very dissapointing. Far below expectation. For example the town council might get tired of taking necessary action on offenders that are causing health hazzard. The police might regard your need for urgent help when your phone line is cut by villians as trivial. If you complaint on their negligence or misconduct, you might be a victim of revenge and abuse. They might also take sides in handling disputes based on their relationship with your adviseries. This is happening in our society. Public representatives (Wakil Rakyat) could just be as useless.
Value(s) and Belief:
Once i asked an aquiantance why did you fork out much money to engage lawyers. He said complaint bureau are biased especially when you are fighting against the state or federal government or their subordinates. Fair enough this is far from impossible perhaps common. We know that most working class don’t have the money for lawyers but for the moment they’ve got no choice.
Proposal of Solution and Call for Action:
No organisation should be iinvisible, even BPA or EAIC should also be punished for their misconduct, neglect and poor performance. No organisation should have immnuity. Authorities should be made just as vulnurable and liable to legal charges and punishment. Legal bureau should be allowed to sue government counterparts in the name of fair governance and justice. For as long as there is no appropriate legal aid for the public, abuse of power and neglect in the public sector would escape unpunished and would be detrimental to society. It is the people that needs genuine protection.
