Policy Code: 2b Human Rights

Problem Statement and Current Policy:

The number of deaths in police custody is outrageous, this submission is line with the recent deaths.

Value(s) and Belief:

The right to life (Article 5, Malaysian FC) must be respected. And, no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (Article 5 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948).

Proposal of Solution and Call for Action:

With regards to the behaviour of the police in dealing with suspected criminals in which there is a social recognition of excessive use of force including the killing of them, torture and other illegal means of interrogation. We demand that a due transparent and a public process is- in place to monitor, to investigate and to deal with officers of law who tarnish the name of the security agencies. We demand for IPCMC to be adopted immediately.
