Problem Statement and Current Policy:
Existing government agencies (JPNIN and Ministry of Unity) have seen little progress / efforts to promote national unity. Incidences of racial and religious discrimination continue to rise; but, it seems that there is a lack of action / response from the government / agencies to address such issues.
Value(s) and Belief:
A concerted effort / political will by the government is required to nip the issue of racism at the bud.
Proposal of Solution and Call for Action:
Revamp and review roles and responsibilities of existing governmental agencies and ministries to avoid overlapping. Priorities need to be given to address the issue of racial and religious discrimination and not to act as a ministry that “manages matters pertaining to non-Muslim matters” – current roles and functions of the Ministry of Unity.
